RAPID BIKE 1 - injection add-on module

It manages the injection directly, by acting between the original ECU and the injectors.

It can vary the amount of fuel injected into each cylinder depending on the number of engine revolutions and the position of the accelerator.

By acting directly on the injection signal, Rapid Bike can manage it with a percentage ranging from -100% to +100% on an 8-column table for the fuel injection and 30 lines for the reves number.

The retard on the original injection signal is only 15µS.

Additional functions such as accelerating pump, electronic gearbox, a map per cylinder for longitudinal two-cylinder versions and map switch for quad or scooter, are part of the remarkable features of Rapid Bike 1.

RAPID BIKE 2 - injection add-on module – advance or limiter management

The injection function is the same as RB1.

As for the advance function, Rapid Bike2 acts between sensor in crank position (pik-up) and the original ECU, it reproduces the modified signal advanced or retarded, depending on the number of engine reves and the position of the accelerator with a percentage ranging from -10 ° (retard) to +10 ° (advance) by reading the data of a 8-column table for the fuel injection and 30 lines for the number of reves. The action range varies depending on the engine, but in general it goes from 2300rpm up to the limiter

As for the limiter control, Rapid Bike2 reproduces the injection signal by modifying it according to the parameters in the map and extending the delivery up to +1000rpm, where the electronic gearbox can be managed.

Additional functions as the RB1 ones.

RAPID BIKE 3 - injection add-on module, multi-set advance

The injection function is the same as RB1 one, the sole difference is that the retard on the original fuel injection signal is just 12µS.

The advance function is the same as RB2 one, with the opportunity to manage different sensibility levels of the pik-up signal.

The function of the electronic gearbox is possible even on dual-injection engines, thanks to the calculation speed, that allows stopping the pick-up signal even in short time.

As for the limiter control, Rapid Bike3 reproduces the injection signal by modifying it according to the parameters contained in the map and extending the delivery up to + 1.200 rpm, where the electronic gearbox can be managed.

Managing of up to 4 injection maps and 1 ignition map in multiple configurations:

  • One injection map per cylinder plus one advance map
  • One injection map for cylinders 1-4 and one for cylinders 2-3 plus one advance map
  • One injection map for cylinders 1-3 and one for cylinders 2-4 plus one advance map
  • Double set of ignition injection maps (set1: injection1 advance1; set2: injection2 advance2) which can be selected during the run through a selector on the handlebar (optional). Each set may have a different setting in the limiter managing.

Rapid Bike3 has additional functions as for RB1. Furthermore the additional limiter function can be selected from the handlebar in order to manage the speed within the pit-lane or fixed (for special set-up which require a maximum revolution speed lower than the nominal one).

It can dialogue with the RB-O2 through a digital dedicated channel to obtain a precise managing even in presence of looping between the original ECU and the lambda probe.

RB - 0² - (Rapid Bike O2 modulator) add-on module - modulation of the lambda probe signal

It manages the signal from the lambda probe (up to 2 sensors) by acting between the sensor and the original ECU. It also reads, processes and generates the signal to the original ECU. The result is a stoichiometric ratio more favourable for the engine, which enables a more fluid delivery and is appreciated by motorcyclists especially at low revs when, sometimes, delivery problems can cause a consequent loss of stability.

The operating methods are:

  • manual working with connection to TPS: the signal modulation depends on the throttle opening and the calibration of an easily accessible and intuitive trimmer;
  • fixed manual working: the signal modulation depends on the trimmer calibration;
  • 2.automatic working combined with Rapid Bike 3: it reads the signal from the lambda probe and changes it according to the injection maps loaded. Thanks to this setup, it is possible to work accurately on the A/F ratio, in order to achieve the best performance at any revs.

TUNING BIKE

RapidBike self-injection remapping system.

Developed in partnership with Lucio Cecchinello's LCR Honda MotoGP Team.

Genaral features of the Tuning Bike system

Tuning Bike is a portable device conceived to create up to two injection maps for the Rapid Bike modules. The maps are based on the A/F ratio which is acquired from the exhaust gas produced when the engine is working.

Tuning Bike is easy to install and uninstall on the bike thanks to a proper cable that connects it to the Rapid Bike module, to the battery and to one/two linear O2 sensors of the latest generation (one is included in the RB kit, the second one is optional).

When the motorbike is running on the track or on test bench, the device logging the carburation value on the rpm/tps table, it processes data according to the A/F ratio target (previously set) and sets up injection map and sends it to the Rapid Bike module.

Instructions for use

Tuning Bike is a professional and versatile system thanks to its user-friendly software.

Continuous self-injection remapping

During the ride the system acquires the stoichiometric ratio from the exhaust gas, it modifies the injection and send it to the RapidBike injection map, according to the required A/F ratio and the maximum modification possible (set up previously by the software). PC will be therefore used at the beginning for the setting up and if you want, at the end to record the outcome.

Periodic cycle self-injection remapping

During the ride, the system acquires the stoichiometric ratio from the exhaust gas, it records the related figures in the rpm/tps table, it sets up and sends a map to the RapidBike module when stopping accelerating. All modifications are set according to the figures previously entered in accordance with the software, that is why the system can be used without the computer in this phase as well.

Self-injection remapping through computer

Acquisition and recording of the figures is carried out as already mentioned in the foregoing section, while the setting up of the map is carried out as follows.

Self-injection remapping through computer and power bench tester

The system is connected to the computer through the proper USB cable or the bluetooth kit (optional). Thanks to the specific software you can see the following figures in real time: rpm, tps, a/f ratio and the trace of the reading point on the map so that you can notice the stoichiometric trend at any rev up of the gas. You can also create the map by setting up the A/F ratio for any tps step and a correction for any rpm range, so to gain the best strategy for remapping. The system allows you to control the whole procedure and to analyse the development step by step.

Data logger

It takes almost 60 minutes to acquire following data: rpm figure, rev up of the gas, stoichiometric ratio of the two lambda sensors, electronic gear, percentage of injector opening and sensor. It then shows them thanks to graphics to allow you to analyse the engine behaviour.

RAPID BIKE PROfessional

The kit consists of various software and hardware components designed to allow the programmer to work in the best conditions and to obtain the desired result.
The software components are::

Rapid Bike Manager

It programs the firmware in ECUs to make them suitable for the requested use.

Rapid Bike Pro

Thanks to its intuitive graphics and precision, all the operating parameters can be monitored; maps can be processed and developed (thus enhancing the Rapid Bike features as well as optimizing the engine performance) and easily work with the changes applied to the exhaust system and filters.
The screen shows the different functions including maps related, 3D graphic and cursors to change map values, both per line and per column. Maps are represented according to an 8-column pattern with percentage values of accelerator opening (loading) and a 30 line pattern of engine reves values. The values of both lines (rpm) and the accelerator opening (%) can be customized as necessary. The changes to the maps can be made on single ECUs as well as by selecting the area where you want to work on. The advance map is expressed in angle degrees and can be amended of 0.5 ° more (increased advance) and less (decreased advance). The injection map is expressed with percentage values of the injection original time and they indicate the more or less amount of fuel compared to the same 1%.
The software window "Management" allows the operator to access all the main functions:

  • Load: TPS calibration
  • Pump correction: adjustment of the amount as a percentage of added fuel, duration of the correction, adjustment of the triggering sensibility.
  • Revolution limiter: adjustment of added rpm
  • Electronic gearbox: cut-off adjustment (cut-off time in ms) – rpm-on (the revolution number starting from which it begins controlling the cut-off) – hold-off (stand-by time).
  • Locking the map reading: it saves the programmer's work and make it inaccessible to others.
  • RB3 map configuration.
  • Pik-up signal: adjustment of pik-up input signal sensibility for RB3
  • RB-O2 modulator: communication settings between RB3 and RB-O2
  • Locking the rpm: additional revolution limiter to be enabled to manage the pit-lane speed for RB3.
Rapid Bike Manager Update

It updates the system automatically or manually, by connecting to the site dedicated to this function.

O² SPEED

Description: Add-on module with a microprocessor that modulates the Lambda sensor signal and the gears position sensor.

Modulation lambda sensor signal: by acting between the original sensor and the ECU, modulates the signal according to the calibration set with the trimmer positioned under the upper lid, else if connected to the Rapid Bike 3, modulates according to the values of injection set on the related map. This way manages to fill any gap in the carburation typical at low rpm expecially in recent version of the bikes.

Modulation throttle position sensor: by acting between the sensor and the ECU of the bike, modulates the signal in a way that eliminates the speed limiter (for a RACE use only).
